Benjamin, 13 Years Old

My son was 13 years old. He was dyslexic and still enuretic.

I had clearly pointed out to his teachers that he confused ‘é’ and ‘ai’, ‘b’ and ‘p’, ‘m’ and ‘n’, etc., but none of them had sent me to a speech therapist for an assessment.

It was only in 6th grade that his French teacher suspected dyslexia . He received speech therapy for two years without any improvement in his school results. He did his best and hovered around a 10.5 overall average.

When he reached 4th grade, he no longer had speech therapy, so I looked for ways to help him. I joined associations where all parents were in the same situation as me, feeling powerless.

Naturally eager to see results, he quickly started the sessions. After a month, his enuresis was gone.

His school results improved very rapidly then. He achieved an overall average of 13.5, which he maintained until his final year of high school. He earned his Civil Engineering baccalaureate, then completed a DUT (University Diploma of Technology), followed by a professional bachelor’s degree, and finally enrolled in a public works engineering program, graduating with a French-English dual degree.

Gradually, his anxieties decreased, he made friends, and completed many professional internships with much encouragement.

He is now integrated into a professional life from which he derives great satisfaction.
He often tells those who listen to him ‘thank you’.
